Hugh Marshall Hoffman, 73, of Stanley NC went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday March 11 2018 at his residence.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Faith Baptist Church 5194 Old Plank Road. Iron Station NC. The family will receive friends at 1:00 followed by the service at 2:00. The Rev. Kevin McClure and the Rev. Mike Scott will be officiating.
Hugh was born May 24, 1944 in Charlotte NC to the late Walter Everett and Elizabeth Robinson Hoffman of Mount Holly, NC. Hugh grew up with six brothers and sisters.
On May 30 1964, Hugh married the love of his life the former Mary Ellen Sims in York, SC. and the couple were married for fifty years. Hugh was a member and a deacon of Faith Baptist Church. Hugh, along with his wife Mary, helped in starting the church’s food pantry.
Hugh was employed by CSX Railroad where he retired after thirty years of devoted service. Hugh loved spending time with his family especially his grand babies and his great grand babies. Hugh loved the outdoors and working in his yard. He had a knack of making anything grow. Hugh also had a love for wood carving and loved to carve animal heads on walking sticks.
Hugh is survived by two daughters Tammy Hoffman Seigler and her husband, James of Stanley, Kelly Hoffman Nivens and her husband, Dean of Stanley. There are six grand babies Jessica Ellen Hoffman, Carrie Leigh Nivens, Marshall David Nivens and Lillie Elizabeth Seigler of Stanley, Stephen Dean Nivens of Kannapolis and Murphy Nivens Oliver of Salisbury; two great grand babies Lana Grace Dake and Eden Michelle Oliver; one sister Ann Emmett; two brothers Eddie and Hoyle Hoffman and many nieces and nephews.
Hugh was preceded in death by his parents Walter Everett and Elizabeth Robinson Hoffman; his wife Mary Sims Hoffman; sisters Jean Wilson and Becky Hagar; brother Jim Hoffman and grandson Thomas Marshall Hoffman.
The Good Samaritan Funeral Home, in Denver, served the Hoffman Family.
Hugh will be truly missed. My heart and prayers goes out to Tammy and Kelly and all your family.
