George will forever be remembered as a Steeler fan, an exotic car buff, and most of all a dedicated family man with an incredible sense of humor.
George was a fighter and an inspiration to many. He survived 16 years after being diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer which is unheard of.
George’s survivors include his wife Patricia, his children- Kevin, Christopher, Jennifer; Daughter in-laws Gini and Jeannine, Son in-law Keith, his grandchildren Addison, Kobie, Kate, Xander, Anthony, Andrew, Riley and his beloved Golden Retriever Abbey.

The Kennedy Family
Our hearts go out to the Popko family. George “The Enforcer” Popko was like my second dad. He will be missed and never forgotten.
We are sorry for your loss. I remember George in MD and often times was afraid of him. Over the years, I got to know him and was glad to have known him. I enjoyed being his IT guy and kidding around with him under the deck at the pool in NC. His sense of humor was stellar. He will be missed and our family is praying for you in this difficult time. Hope to see you all soon.
When the Popko’s trailblazer to the west/best part of the lake I was sure to follow. They have always been my 2nd family with George steadily at the helm.
I enjoyed sharing cigars and talking cars with George. I’m sure he was as good of a teacher as he was a father and friend. The true measure of a good person is when you can say that everyone who knew him was better off because of it.
You will be missed, George, but not forgotten.
Go Steelers!
Jennifer, my heart goes out to you and your family. Wishing you much love and support.
I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Kindest regards.

George,
Merry Christmas! Just wanted to let you know we are all missing & thinking of you.
Love & Hugs,
Pat
Dear Pat, Kevin, Christopher and Jennifer,
By the grace of God, I sadly came across George’s obituary and want to reach out to all of you to let you know how very sad Geoff, Matt and I are and send you all our deepest sympathy. It’s been about 40 years since we were neighbors in MD so I hope you still remember us! We thought highly of the five of you and will always remember the great memories as neighbors that we shared. George was not only a wonderful neighbor but was a special husband and father also. Cherish every memory you had with him and hold them close to your hearts and he will forever be a part of you. God bless all of you.
Happy Birthday Honey,
Just wanted to let you know we are all thinking about you on your special day and are getting together later for a Low Country Seafood Boil and Red Velvet Cupcakes, your very favorites to celebrate & remember you! I’m sure we will also look @ pictures and watch the video again. Our children and grands have been wonderful and you would be very proud of all of them. Abbey is sending a hug, as well. Oh, Riley has a new kitten, so we do have another George in the household! We just all wish you were still here.
Love & Hugs,
Pat
Good Morning Honey,
I can’t believe that it’s been a year; it just seems like yesterday that we lost you. Our children and grands continue to be their for me and you are in my thoughts every day. Hope you enjoyed Charleston with Kevin, Chris & I, and Jen & I are off to Asheville on Sunday to stay @ The Biltmore. I can picture you telling her to slow down.
Kobie is still doing great in school, and Xander is off to Penn State soon, and Kate will start her second year @ App State. Covid is finally over for now for the most part, and it is certainly nice seeing people and starting to do things again. I miss you dearly.
All my love, all my life,
Pat
Good Morning Honey,
Happy Father’s Day. And, of course, I am thinking about you while having my coffee. It is raining here and last night we celebrated my birthday & Father’s Day with the family with a great dinner & cake. I am going to get ready for Jen to pick me up for our trip to Asheville. But, of course, you will be with us.
Talk again soon. Abbey sends a wet kiss.
Lots of love,
Pat
