On Friday September 24, 2021 Carolyn Jane Ishman, loving mother, granny, great granny and sister passed away at the age of 76.
Carolyn was born on October 21, 1944 in Mishawaka, Indiana to Edward and Mary (Both) Cole.
Carolyn lived a very full life. Some would say “never a dull moment.” She was often described as hard working, stubborn, funny, feisty, ornery, hard headed, just to name a few. Anyone who knew her, knew all of these to be true. Her favorite things were watching tv, eating out, reading, shopping and spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved going to any and all events that her grandchildren were involved in. It didn’t matter what state she lived in, she went and watched the grandchildren that were there. Sometimes traveling from one state to another to attend.
She lived in many states and actually at different times lived with each of her children. Rhonda and Mike in Georgia, Shawn and Joanna and their family in New York and for the last nine years of her life, seven of those she lived with Valarie, Jim, Mason and Dixie & Charlotte in Mississippi and Pennsylvania. The last two years in Denver North Carolina where Sharon and Carter joined the family.
There are so many funny stories we will all talk about for many, many years to come. She will live fondly in our hearts forever. She was loved more than I truly think she ever knew and will be missed by so many. Keep grooving granny we ALL love you.
Hospice came into our home the final week and the care they provided was outstanding. We will forever be grateful. Mom passed away peacefully surrounded by love and family in her home.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father Edward and her mother Mary. She is survived by her three children, Rhonda (Mike), Valarie (Jim), Shawn (Joanna), her two sisters Marilyn (Dick) and Susan, six grandchildren Nicolas, Amanda, Matthew, Chris, Alexia, Valentina. Five great grandchildren Noah, Eli, Mason, Carter, Raylan and countless extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date in Georgia for her three children and their families.
Donations can be sent in Carolyn’s name to:

She was one of a kind and will be missed by so many. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this most difficult time.
Carol you wore many hats in my heart. First as Granny, second Valarie’s mom and third my friend. I will always remember our Mother Daughter night out at Big Daddy’s! Christmas at my Mom’s we shared with you and Valarie, but my fondest memory will be our day out shopping! You were so excited! You tried on more outfits than I ever dreamed you would! Then our lunch date afterwards! What a perfect day we shared! Always know you were loved. I’m sure by more people than you ever realized! I miss you Granny Carol! You were a force to be reckoned with! Here’s to all the memories!! 💖🙏🥰
What can I say about Granny. She was always a spit 🔥. She told you like it was with no holds barred. She was a good corn hole partner and brought a lot of laughs. She will forever be in my heart and will forever live on in her kids. Each one of her kids has a unique light of hers that will shine on. Rest in heavenly peace my friend❤
Carol will be missed by so many. She was a little she was a little spit fire and that spirit will be missed but never forgotten. I love you.
