Betty Jean Neely Begert, 94, of Denver, NC went to be with her Heavenly Father on February 7, 2023. She was born on January 19, 1929, to the late Edward Roy Neely and Eunice Jeannette Lovell Neely,
Betty was also preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Gerald Begert; sister Juanita Lorraine White; brother-in-law Ewing White Jr.; nephew Steven Wayne White; and an infant brother.
Betty worked with her husband who was an independent tax accountant. Very active in her church, she served as assistant church treasurer, a Sunday School teacher, and a member of the choir. She was a talented seamstress and loved gardening. “Memaw” devoted her life to her family as a loving mother and grandmother.
She is survived by two daughters Leigh Ann Johnston (Gary) and Beverly Jane Begert; son Craig Anthony Begert; one brother George Thomas Neely (Elaine); five grandchildren, Traci Leigh Johnston Roux (Gerald), Leslie Ann Stroupe (Matthew), Megan Lynn Johnston, Clint Daniel Begert, and Curt Richard Begert (Brittany); seven great-grandchildren David Plyler, Joey Plyler, Emily Stroupe, Justin Stroupe, Peyton Passmore, Parker Passmore, and Coleson Todd Begert, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at 2PM at Webbs Chapel United Methodist Church, 4640 Webbs Chapel Church Road Denver, NC 28037. Visitation will follow the service.
Interment will be at a later date in Grayville, IL.
