Robert B. Haslett

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert B. Haslett on October 6, 2024, at the age of 78. Robert was born on January 31, 1946 in Oil City, Pennsylvania, to Russell P. and Helen L. (Sincerney) Haslett. Robert graduated from Ft. Lauderdale University in 1970 with a BA in Marketing. 

Robert met his wife, Vonnie (Smalley) Haslett more than 40 years ago, and they were happily married for more than 29 years. Robert was known for always being there to help anyone in need. He loved to travel, enjoyed good food and drink while being surrounded by family and friends. He cherished his family and was a great protector of them. Robert was a devout Catholic his entire life, and most recently as a Sacristan at The Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Denver, NC.

Robert worked at GTE Sylvania in the early part of his career, and then Robert worked as a Regional Manager along the east coast for Bourns, Incorporated in the electronics industry. After retiring, in addition to his work with the church, he volunteered at varying organizations in different capacities such as the State Election Board, and was also a regular contributor at the American Red Cross. Robert was also a proud and active member of the Fraternal Order of Elks for many years and enjoyed visiting them as he traveled around the country. 

Preceded in joining the Lord: Mother & Father, Russell and Helen Haslett, and his brother Thomas (Tim) Haslett, all from Oil City, Pennsylvania.

Survived by: his wife, Vonnie J. Haslett, daughters Lisa A. DeAngelis, Michele D. Brunetti, step-daughters Carolyn Coxson, Kathy Ferencz, Jen Dininny, and Janet Shawgo; son-in-laws Robert DeAngelis and Shawn Dininny, along with 3 grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, 14 step-great grandchildren, and he is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services are under the direction of Good Samaritan Funeral Home, 3362 N Hwy 16, Denver, NC 28037, Mass service will be held at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 537 N. Hwy 16, Business in Denver, NC., on Tuesday, October 15 at 11:00AM. Public visitation will be at the church beginning at 10 AM on October 15th.
