Raymond James Hennessy passed away March 20, 2025 in Lincolnton, North Carolina.
Born on October 17, 1960 in Rochester, New York, he was the son of Carole Ann (Legler) and William Patrick Hennessy.
From a young age, Raymond’s love for music was undeniable. Recognizing this passion, his parents gifted him his first drum set as a child– planting a seed that would blossom into a lifelong passion. Music was the heartbeat of his soul. His natural talent, combined with his ability to connect deeply with those around him, laid the groundwork for vibrant and exciting opportunities throughout life. He inspired creativity and collaboration everywhere he went. Whether he was writing, performing, recording music, or even just supporting his fellow musicians, he truly lived his dream: Making music alongside those he cared about most.
Raymond met the love of his life, Kathleen, when he was 14 and she was 13. It was love at first sight for young Raymond. They spent years fostering their friendship & relationship as they grew and stumbled through life. You’d often find them spending entire weekends at the lake–boating, camping, or riding dirtbikes. Always chasing adventure and joy. Together they truly embarked on a lifelong grand adventure, moving to new places, meeting amazing people along the way, and making unforgettable memories throughout it all.
Their precious teenage spark grew into a remarkable 50 year journey of love and partnership, crowned by an astounding 32 years of marriage. Together they raised their daughter, Sierra, born January 26, 2002. Raymond was a devoted, protective, and loving husband and father who gave his all to ensure his wife and daughters happiness and safety.
His love for life extended effortlessly to the world around him. Known for his boundless generosity and deep compassion, Raymond truly served others throughout his entire life.
As a young man, he volunteered at AHEAD With Horses in California, helping children with special needs gain independence and confidence through therapeutic horseback riding. As an adult he dedicated two years of his life serving a mission in the Philippines, for the Church of Latter Day Saints, where he was known as Elder Hennessy.
Most recently he devoted his time to Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA), where he was known as Tunes, a proud member who was beyond dedicated to protecting vulnerable children. He also gave his time to Christian Ministries, feeding the homeless and offering warmth, conversation, and kindness to everyone he encountered. Raymond James Hennessy leaves behind a legacy of Love, Laughter, Music, and Service.
He touched countless lives and will be remembered not just for the things he did, but for the way he made people feel: Loved, Supported, and Never Alone.
Forever in our Hearts
Be Loving, Be Kind <3
