Anita Gail Donahoo, 66, of Lincolnton, NC. went home to Jesus on July 5, 2023 at Abernethy Laurels, Carolina Caring Division. Newton, NC.
Gail was the daughter of the late Thomas E. Donahoo and Peggy Baxley Donahoo of Raeford and Fayetteville, NC.
After spending her early years there, she moved first to Charlotte, NC and then to Denver, NC. where she met the love of her life, the late Al Smith of Lincolnton, NC. They shared a life filled with travel and joy for sixteen wonderful years at the Terraces before his death.
Gail loved beach music, cooking, traveling to the beach and most of all, her family. Earth’s loss is a true gain for heaven.
Besides her husband, Gail was also preceded in death by her parents, brother Tim Donahoo of Fayetteville; 2 sons William Thomas (Billy) of Oklahoma and Keith Wayne Donahoo of Indiana.
Gail is survived by a stepsister Angela Carmen (Mikel); nephew Kevin Klontz and granddaughter Lexi. She also leaves behind one close friend of 37 years, Rev. Kay W. Nixon. Many other close friends such as Shirley Mashburn, Sue Kelly and all the people she volunteered with at East Lincoln Christian Ministry for many years will miss her sweet smile and giving heart.
There will be a small Memorial Service at 5:00 PM on Sunday, July 30,2023 at Denver Wesleyan Church. All are welcome to come and share memories of Gail at her going home service. Pastor Kay W. Nixon will officiate.
