Dennis Bain Dellinger Jr., age 79 of Denver, NC, passed away on December 13, 2024, surrounded by family.
He was a native of Lincoln County, born April 27, 1945, to the late Dennis B Dellinger Sr. and Virginia Beam Dellinger. He graduated from Rock Springs High School in 1963; an active member of various groups and was a proud member of the basketball and baseball team all 4 years. Denny then attended Western Carolina University where he was a member of the baseball team. He joined the United States Air Force in 1966, assigned to Japan in 1967 as a Communications Operation Specialist and was honorably discharged in 1972. He returned home joining the family business Dellinger Furniture, Inc. working with his father and later became proprietor.
Denny was an avid golfer and was able to travel to different courses throughout his life. He loved watching sports and being a part of his children’s sporting events. Aside from the love for his children his grandchildren brought so much joy to his life.
Denny was a loving husband, father, brother, granddad and uncle. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deana Coffey Dellinger of 41 years and sister Mary Virginia Smith. Survivors include daughters, Dare Dellinger (John) of Dallas, NC, and Dru Dellinger (Wes) of Washington, NC; son, Devin Dellinger (Kaitlyn) of Stanley NC; Sister, Brenda Dellinger Schaeffer of Severna Park MD; three grandchildren, Larkin Hoffman, Jossie Hoffman, and Poppy Dellinger; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Hills Chapel United Methodist Church, 988 NC-16 Business S, Stanley, NC 28164. Receiving of friends will be held at 11:00 AM prior to the Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM.
