On Wednesday October 16, 2024, Elizabeth Ann Holt Smith, 98, was made whole again as she walked through the Gates of Heaven to meet her Heavenly Father face to face. There is no doubt she was greeted first by her husband Rev. Ted Smith, Jr. and was then surrounded by her family and loved ones that have gone before her. She was born on November 14, 1925 to H.J. and Lanora Holt.
Loved and admired by many, Ann lived a long and distinguished life, filled with purpose and faith, surrounded by her family and friends. She is described as kind, selfless, and beautiful inside and out with an unwavering faith. Her laughter was something special, and she could recall the tiniest of detail until the end.
She loved her children, adored her grandchildren, and treasured her great-grandchildren. Her legacy will continue for generations to come.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. William Theodore Smith, Jr.; her sisters Louise Shaw and Jean Parnell; and her brother, Charles Holt.
Surviving her are her daughter Rebecca Hensley and husband Don of Denver, NC; daughter Elizabeth Gibson, husband the late Ronald of Denver, NC; her son Ted Smith III and wife Susan of Oak Island, NC; grandchildren Rachel Frye (Scott), Catherine Mosely (Daniel), Nicholas Smith (Valerie), Charlotte Pering (Daniel), and Jackson Smith; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held in person and live-streamed Sunday, October 27, 2024 at 4pm at First Presbyterian Church Stanley, NC. Visitation and reception will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Stanley Total Living Center (514 Old Mount Holly Rd, Stanley, NC 28164) or Paths of Hope (online www.pohperu.org or checks to Paths of Hope Ministries P.O. Box 4242, Greensboro, NC 27404)

Bob and I have loved receiving a beautifully, handwritten letter from Libby every Christmas and I was thrilled to finally meet her, Becky, Beth, Don and several of the grandchildren when we visited her at the Denver home a few years ago. She was so upbeat and a joy to talk to as she told us many stories of what kept her busy throughout her day and many family stories involving Bob’s Mom and her children. She will be greatly missed, but we will visit again in eternity and never have to say good-bye. Our deepest condolences to all the family members that must have aching hearts right now as they are missing sweet Libby’s loving spirit and laughter.
