Francis Paul Buckshon

Francis Paul Buckshon, 89, died Nov. 26, 2020 peacefully at Abernethy Laurels Retirement Community, Newton NC.

He was born April 23, 1931 in Jessup PA to the late John Buckshon and Mary Polak Buckshon.

He was preceded in death by brothers Joseph Buckshon and Nicholas Buckshon.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Theresa Joan, brother Jack (Sandra), daughter Theresa Gurdak (Ron), son Paul (Joann), and three grandchildren, Amanda, Michael Gurdak, and Samantha.

He played professional baseball for a short time, worked as a machinist at the Frankford Arsenal Philadelphia PA, was a US Army Veteran stationed in Ft. Knox KY, the Department of Defense as a Quality Control Inspector, and finished his career in private industry as a Quality Control Manager.

About 40 years of his life was spent in Edgewater Park NJ where he raised his family before moving to North Carolina in the early 2000’s, settling in Denver NC.

He will be remembered for his complete devotion and love for his wife Joan “babe”, his family, and his amazing memory and stories. He was so proud of his children and his grandchildren, for which he had an affectionate nickname for each. His passions were all sports, playing the lottery, and his crossword puzzles.

He truly valued the simple things in life.

A Graveside Service with military honors will take place at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Black Mountain, NC

Frank’s was charitable to children in need. Donations in Frank’s name can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.www.stjude.org
