Marion “Lucky” Lewis Shawver

Marion “Lucky” Lewis Shawver, 76, of Denver, NC, passed away peacefully September 20, 2024. Marion’s children and sister remained faithful to him in his final days, ensuring his comfort and care.

Born in West Virginia to the late Marion Levi and Thelma Virginia (Ailstock) Shawver of Bradley, WV.

Like his father, Marion served in the Navy. After his military service, Marion became a coal miner, a background of which he was proud of. His children can recall the many nights of him coming out of the mines covered in coal dust, only being able to see the whites of his eyes. In the mid-1980’s Marion relocated to North Carolina to pursue a new way of living, and that he did. Marion worked at Mac Steel of Denver, NC until his retirement in 2010.

Lucky had a passion for cooking and sports. One of which would always be playing in the background when you would come for a visit. His interest in cooking would always bring good conversation and his affection for sports would forge the bond and friendship between father and son.

Lucky will be remembered by son Tracy Lee Shawver of Denver, NC, daughter Beth Ann Shawver of Goldsboro, NC, daughter Melissa Lynn and spouse Thomas Matthew Stricklin of Goldsboro, NC. Grandchildren Wyatt Levi and Savannah Loraine Shawver of Denver, NC. Jacob Swain, Jackson Ray and Madison Victoria Stricklin of Goldsboro, NC. Sibling, sister Susan Elaine and spouse Warren Collier of Buford, GA. Nieces Leigh Ann “Theo” and Virginia Collier. As well as in-laws, friends and his faithful companion Smokey “Nuenee” the cat.

Preceded in death, Lucky joins his beloved wife Lana Jean Shawver.

Holding true to his final wishes, Lucky’s ashes will be taken home to West Virginia, laid to rest alongside his wife.

Much appreciation to The Good Samaritan of Denver, NC for their services.
