Mark Cleveland, 66, of Denver, NC. passed away on August 28, 2024 surrounded by his family. Born in Gastonia, NC on September 23, 1957, he was the son of the late Don Emanuel Sr. and Mary Pauline “Polly” Green Cleveland.
Mark served proudly in the United States Navy.
Mark was a truck driver for many years and then a mechanic working on many types of trucks including the 18 Wheelers’. He loved riding his Harley Motorcycle and attending ‘Bike Week’ at Daytona, Florida.
Mark was a true friend and brother to all. Most of all, he loved his wife and companion of 23 years, Jo Marie Cleveland. Jo was his “Baby.”
Besides his parents, Mark was preceded in death by his grandparents Philo Mark and Inez Hortense Green, Gary and Carrie Carrol Cleveland; uncle Reginald “Reggie” Green; his in-laws David and Billie Chapman and sister-in-law Angela Chapman Martin.
Mark is survived by his wife, Jo Marie Cleveland of the home; his ‘furry baby’ Lexi Marie Cleveland of the home; children daughters Ashley Cleveland of Titusville, Fl., Billie Hooks & Jonathan of Charlotte, NC; son Joseph Younce & Patti of Concord, NC.; grandchildren Nicholas, Abrianna, Michael, Tristan, Dakotta, Roman, Elijah, Benjamin, Parker and Zackary; great grandchildren Abrianna, Ki’mora and Carson; brothers Don Cleveland and Teresa Allgood of Emerald Isle, Jonathan and Melinda Cleveland of Kings Mountain, NC., sister Joanie and Henry Camp of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; brother-in-law Tommy Martin of Concord, NC; sisters-in-law Roseann and Charlie Elliott of Terrell, NC., Lynn and Wayne Revels of Gaffney, SC., uncle Laverne “Larry” Greene of Florida, Uncle Dan Cleveland and wife Leona Dunwoody of Georgia, Aunt Tina Cleveland of Tamassee, SC ; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A Celebration of Mark’s life will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at The Good Samaritan Funeral Home 3362 (Business) North Highway 16, Denver, NC. Pastor Aron Gibson of Lake Forest Church (West Campus) will officiate. Military Honors will be rendered by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Family will receive friends starting at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark’s memory may be made to Levine Cancer Institute of Charlotte, NC. would be deeply appreciated.
Mark will be missed. He fought the good fight and ultimately won the greater prize. 2 Corinthians 5:6-8
Mr. Cleveland exemplified the spirit of kindness, strength, and generosity. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Mark was a great friend to have we will forever miss him and I know he is at peace now.
