A proud Grandfather to his grandchildren Josh, Kaitlyn, and Nicole Lapish and Ray, Holly, and Nolan Buick. Loving brother to Patrick (Cheryl), Don (Alicia), Carol (Chuck) Higgins, and Timothy (Kim); uncle to 23 nieces and nephews. Pops honorably served his country in the United Saves Navy from 1965-1970 (Vietnam War) before earning a business degree from Northern Illinois University in 1974. After a distinguished career in the commercial insurance industry in Chicago, Illinois, and in Charlotte and for Union County, North Carolina. He spent his retirement years surrounded by family and friends in a home on the Cowans Ford Golf Course where he enjoyed numerous rounds of golf with his son and friends.
Pops will be greatly missed by his family that he leaves behind. His grandchildren will carry on his legacy. His unique sense of humor and inquisitive mind will forever be remembered. He married Anne (Halliwell) in February of 1969 and they moved to the Chicago area to start their lives together and raise a family. He was a devoted father and found his greatest happiness as a coach, teacher, and friend to his children. Pops was an enthusiastic fan of Chicago sports enduring years of frustration that made the joys of the Bears Super Bowl in 1985 or the Jordan era Bulls that much sweeter. He enjoyed playing golf, chess, and bridge with family and friends.
